LUIS FERNANDO VERÍSSIMO

[ Porto Alegre: 1936 ] Acclaimed for his short narratives and humorous stories, Luis Fernando Verissimo earned national fame with the publication of three collections: O Analista de Bagé, A Velhinha de Taubaté and Detetive Ed Mort. A long-time comic book fan, Verissimo became a cartoonist himself with creation of the strip As Cobras (The snakes). In addition to publishing many top-selling books, Verissimo writes for the newsdailies Zero Hora and Estado de São Paulo. For two decades, he wrote for the Jornal do Brasil’s supplement "Revista de Domingo" and from 1995 through 1999 he wrote a daily column for the same paper. In 1999 he transferred to O Globo, where he has a daily column on the op-ed page.
