MANOEL CARLOS

Manoel Carlos’s work is very extensive. He is the author of 18 soap operas, seven of them made exclusively for Argentina, Colombia, the USA (Miami) and Peru. The first, called Helena, was shown in 1952 on TV Paulista. The last, Páginas da Vida (2007), was transmitted by TV Globo. The next TV Globo soap opera, which is already being filmed and is expected to air in September 2009, is also his creation.

He has written four miniseries: Viver a vida, O cometa, Presença de Anita (adapted from the book by Mário Donato) and Maysa – quando fala o coração (in partnership with Ângela Chaves).

He was the author and, frequently, the director of the following TV programs: Hebe Camargo (1960), Corte-Rayol Show (1962) and Família Trapo (1967), all three for Rede Record. Chico Anysio Show (1963, TV Rio), Joana (1986, TV Manchete), Uma família como qualquer (1987, Colombia) and O besouro e a rosa (Rede Globo, 1993).

From 1955 to 1963, he wrote television plays for the weekly program O Grande Teatro Tupi, directed and produced by Sergio Britto. He was also part of the cast, which counted with great actors from the TBC – Brazilian Comedy Theatre, such as Ítalo Rossi, Natalia Timberg, Aldo de Maio and Fernanda Montenegro.
